Despite being a profession which often relies upon volunteers to process the backlog of materials due to a lack of funding, the Australian archival community does not know much about our volunteers. Currently Christopher Stueven and myself are heading a couple of initiatives in order to address this blindspot within our profession. I will be conducting research into the motivations of our volunteers, whilst Chris will be formulating a best practice document for volunteering programs in archival organisations.
